The Claddagh Ring is said to have originated as a betrothal ring some 400 years ago on the shores of Galway Bay on Irelands west coast. Its unique design shows two hands holding a crowned heart symbolizing love, loyalty and friendship.

The Claddagh is worn with the heart facing your own heart, and the crown of loyalty facing the tip of your finger to show that your heart is spoken for. Turned the other way it shows that your heart is open to approach.
